How it works

At The Academic Coach, we offer a diverse array of online tuition courses designed to meet the needs of students across various GCSE & A Level subjects. Our courses feature weekly, small group sessions that continue throughout the academic year, ensuring personalised attention and consistent progress.

Why choose small group tuition?

  • It eliminates the pressure experienced with one to one tuition (which means students are less likely to pretend they understand)
  • Students are more likely to ask questions and actively engage in problem solving
  • It improves teamwork, social skills, confidence and self belief
  • Small class sizes give students the individual attention they need from a tutor

Why choose online tuition?

  • Our online courses give students access to the learning materials and the teaching support they need to stay on track
  • Our tuition courses have been specifically designed to give students the structure and guidance they’re used to in a classroom environment
  • Led by our expert teachers, students get access to the same helpful materials and advice they’d receive in person without the inconvenience of travelling

FAQ

We know that getting the right support for your child is important, so we’ve provided as much information as possible to help make that decision easier.

Who are we?

The Academic Coach is a group of highly experienced teachers who have the passion and expertise to help your child excel. Every coach is a qualified teaching professional. All tutors have up-to-date DBS. Our tutors are carefully selected because they are excellent teachers – several of which hold a Masters in Education and have experience examining for various UK examination boards.

What do students need to take part in a lesson?

Students will need access to a laptop/tablet/smartphone along with good WIFI signal and connection. A fully-equipped pencil case and notepaper will be required. A calculator may also be essential for some subjects.

Can you pay as you go?

Courses run every half-term, and typically last 5-8 weeks. Courses need to be purchased on our website. At the end of every half term you’ll get the option to sign up for the next term’s course. Most of our students find that once they’ve experienced their first lesson – there’s no looking back!

What is the lesson format?

Lessons take place using Microsoft Teams & Sharepoint. Our lessons are live, interactive and are taught in small groups. This makes sure we optimise effective collaborative learning without compromising on personal attention. Pupils are grouped by ability and lessons are tailored and differentiated to the needs of each student.

Which exam boards do you cover?

We predominantly teach in line with WJEC for GCSE and A-Level but, this varies from subject-to-subject. If you have any queries about compatibility with your local exam boards, just drop us a line.

What makes The Academic Coach different?

We genuinely care about our students and their progression. Alongside the academic aspect of tutoring, we also give our students the extra personal support and encouragement they need to progress, make decisions, and navigate their educational options. We know we go that extra mile, but don’t just take our word for it – take a look at our reviews!
